Spicy Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce doesn’t get as much love as it deserves, which is why we’re devoting an entire recipe post to this unsung hero of the holiday table. It’s a delicious addition to any meal, and adds the right mix of sweet, tart and spice to your Thanksgiving.

Sweet Heat Cranberry Sauce

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup vegan sugar

  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice

  • 1/4 cup Piqualé Sweet Hot sauce

  • 16 oz of frozen or fresh cranberries

  • 1/8 cup cornstarch

  • The zest of one orange

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a medium saucepan, add cranberries, cranberry juice, Piqualé, sugar and fresh orange zest, reserving 2 table spoons of cranberry juice.

  2. Cook, stirring often, until sugar dissolves on medium heat.

  3. With an immersion blender, puree part of the sauce, leaving whole berries and pieces for a chunkier sauce.

  4. Create a roux with the cornstarch using the remaining cranberry juice and add mixture to the saucepan, stirring thoroughly.

  5. Remove from heat and put in a container until you’re ready to enjoy!
