We Try Deliciou plant-based Chick'n!
What is Deliciou? Deliciou Plant-Based Chicken is a “dry plant mix where you add water and oil to create a versatile mince which you shape into anything and use in your favourite chicken recipe.” Think of it as a shredded chicken substitute that is shelf-stable, easy to make and incredibly versatile. No soy, no added sugar or salt, no preservatives and GMO free. Plus it has 20g of protein per serving! Let’s see what we can make.*
Deliciou became an internet sensation when the founder, Kjetil Hansen, appeared on Shark Tank seeking investors for his Bacon Seasoning. The hook? It contained no pork at all, but it made anything taste just like bacon. After getting the investment, he created a line of seasonings and eventually the plant based chick’n mix.
In the box you’ll find a 140g bag of mix, simply add 1 cup of water and a tablespoon of oil, mix and season. We used their Chipotle seasoning to make our mix, cooked it for about 5-7 minutes over medium heat with occasional stirring. Within minutes you have a perfect shredded chicken replacement. Fill up some tacos, stuff a burrito or load up that plate of nachos. You can also form it into balls, nuggets or any shape you like.
The taste is amazing- as is the feel of the product. The leftovers from our Nachos are going to be great in a Southwestern Chick’n salad.
